This year at Rosekilts has been a big one my usual super busy. There was a family wedding and what an amazing wedding it was as you can imagine there were kilts galore and a fabulous ceildh where we  all danced the night away - happy times indeed gathering all the loved ones togrether!

Onto the studio,  well I have remade “turned” altered taken in and let out many kilts

I have been working on several projects down in London, which have been super fun as well as all the restoration work I like to do

My studio has got incredibly cluttered so that has to be sorted out before the open Studios at Coburg house in Edinburgh UK which is celebrating 20 years of open Studios which I am delighted to be a part of (I think I have been doing them for about 15 years)

I have been super busy organising Client ‘s weddings for local and abroad that has been fun with a multitude of tartans, some special weave designed tartan and of course the  usual a large pile of alterations dropping on my worktop.I love working on the alterations because I think that makes me a better kilt maker having worked for the best part of 30 years. I always like to see how other makers have worked and I try and gather all the best bits and use for my own kilts,I think that works really well. I take the best bits and that is how Rosekilts operates.

my business is very sustainable. It always has been and that sounds such a cliche as so many businesses have jumped on that bandwagon as it’s heritage. It’s always been geared towards make do and mend, alter and adjust pass on and pass down throughout the family and that’s just the way I love to work.

The tartan hand-fasting  are another part of the business the reach global and it’s wonderful to send all the tartans around the world and knowing they will be a part of somebody special day fills my heart with joy - it really does

Here in Edinburgh the wind has finally eased. We have enjoyed spring sunshine and the usual summer rain this evening Edinburgh always delivers all the seasons in one day - til next time my friends xx
