Well hello I am so sorry blog lateness
All of a sudden, I went from busy kilt business organising weddings, birthdays, events, pipebands, and then the pandemic hit and all quiet - massive cancellations at the studio with the exception of a few brave couples simplifying their wedding plans and after over 25 years of solid work it was very still indeed as it was for most of us across the globe - panic, restrictions, loss of friends and family, Covid testing isolation and a new world was born....
In the downtime ie lockdown I reupholstered my dining room chairs in leather a job I had been meaning to undertake for some time but never had the time! I then reupholstered friends' chairs and I even managed to alter around 400 hammocks for a local business, apparently it was a heatwave and as everyone was home there was unprecedented demand
The other pastime which kept me busy was making facemasks for the Edinburgh mask company which was a charity set up and relied on volunteers to provide facemasks for people in need.
I also launched my Etsy shop selling facemasks and tartan goods across the globe
And now thankfully things are much better with the new Normal and I'm back in the studio at Coburg house in the heart of the shore in Leith where Rosekilts took part in our biannual open studio event which was really fun, and the good people of Edinburgh were out in force so a big thank you to everyone who supported not just me but all the other artists and makers.
now Christmas is fast approaching the next few weeks will be intense - Happy Christmas to you all xx
